Bristuff ® Nitriding
The Bristuff process is available at each Heat Treatment Australia
site.
The process gives a hard surface with a hardness value up to 1200
Hardness Vickers. The hardness is depended on the material composition
and not all materials are suitable for the Bristuff Nitriding
process. Please call one of our experience material technologies
for more information on nitriding and the available materials.
The case depths which can be achieved are depended on the process
time. The cycles which are currently in use give the following
case depths
-
Light 005” or 0.1 mm
-
Normal 008” or 0.2 mm
-
Double 016 or 0.4 mm
Masking of components can be carried out to inhibit the penetration
of the process gases leaving the masked area soft.
Bristuff Nitriding is a low temperature thermal treatment which
offers low distortion during processing making it ideal for
finished components and components with very high finished tollarances.

The process is fully computer controlled giving more consistent
results. The process and inspection procedures are fully documented
under our ISO 9001:2000 quality management system for full 
repeatability
and traceability.
Bristuff offers unique characteristics to treated components
including improved corrosive resistence, low tendency to seize
or gall, high resistance to fatigue, exceptional wear resistance
and hardness retention at elevated operating temperatures.
